Root Canal Treatment
Root canal therapy is a dental treatment completed over 2-3 appointments to save a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted. When left untreated, a small decay or hole in your teeth can result in substantial pain and discomfort when the decay progresses. When the bacteria enters the nerve of the tooth the nerve slowly dies due to infection.
Root Canal Therapy involves removing the decay on the tooth. The pulp chamber is thoroughly cleaned and filled with suitable materials to prevent any future infiltration of bacteria and finally, a permanent tooth coloured filling is placed on the tooth.
In most cases, a crown is recommended several months after the root canal therapy is completed to maintain the strength of the tooth.
